An activity may be assisted in whole or in part with CDBG funds if the activity is defined as eligible under Section 105(a) of Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, {current law  42 USC 5305}.

Each State administering the CDBG program is allowed the flexibility of determining its priorities from that range of eligible activities under Section 105(a) of the Act. To formulate Louisiana's program, views on priorities are requested and received from local officials of eligible municipalities and parishes through surveys, public hearings and written comments on proposed plans. The information has resulted in the following eligible activities under the current Louisiana CDBG Program:

• housing rehabilitation/reconstruction of single-family, owner-occupied low-to-moderate income units
• demolition of vacant, sub-standard housing units
• structural improvements to remove physical barriers that restrict mobility and accessibility - [Physical Accessibility]

The State also allows for program administration.

INELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES: rehabilitation or replacement of multi-family housing units, mobile homes, modular homes and rental properties; assistance to homeowners who are above moderate income limits. New mobile homes or modular homes are not acceptable for use as replacement units.
