The Comprehensive Public Training Program CPTP) is the state-funded training program for state employees. Through the CPTP, agencies are offered management development and supervisory training, and general application classes on topics such as computer software and writing skills. The Comprehensive Public Training Program (CPTP) is committed to creating and providing training programs for all state employees in order to cultivate and maintain a competent and professional workforce to support and accomplish the objectives of the State of Louisiana. It is our goal to facilitate improved employee job performance by maximizing efficiency, cultivating positive partnerships and providing learning opportunities to employees, so that they may develop the knowledge and skills needed to perform in their diverse roles.

- IMPORTANT - The Dept. of Civil Service will no longer be providing participants with a copy of the training manuals for classes taught by Civil Service. Participants will need to print or obtain a copy of the training manual and bring it with them to class. Course manuals can be obtained from the following: Dept of Civil Service website (www.civilservice.la.gov), agency Human Resources Offices, agency CPTP Coordinators and/or by clicking HERE.
- NEW COURSES BEING OFFERED!
CPTP has developed some new courses which have been added to the schedule. First, weve added a new series of courses titled the Succession Planning Series. Included are: Mentoring, On-The-Job Training, and New Employee Orientation. Click HERE for course descriptions and target audiences. - The schedule of upcoming classes is available through December 2009. Click on the "Class Schedules" link on the left. Included in the schedule are mandatory training classes as well as offerings of several other (non-mandatory) classes. Classes that are full are so indicated on the schedule. Please do not register for a class that is marked full. Classes are continually added in most cities, so please check the schedule regularly
- NEW! We have updated course listings and are now offering additional courses. Our computer-based training courses are provided through MindLeaders. - For information on the certificates currently being offered by the Comprehensive Public Training Program, please click HERE. Currently we offer the Certificate for Managing People, which is available to managers and supervisors, and the Professional Certificate, which is designed for employees who are not supervisors and managers, but are in professional level jobs.
- The Department of Civil Service has issued the revised policy concerning Minimum Supervisory Training Requirements. For classes required by the Policy (Gen. Circulars 1473 and 1721), click on "Class Schedules" link on the left, and then "Mandatory Training Schedule". The effective date of the revised policy is July 1, 2008.
