Registration is conducted through CPTP coordinators in each agency. The CPTP class schedule, as well as the mandatory training class schedule, are published on the CPTP web site. Updates to the schedule are made to the CPTP website on a regular basis. Employees should complete a separate registration form for each class they wish to attend. (See below for quick access to forms).
It is important that participants include all requested information. The employee should obtain supervisory approval and then return the registration form to the agency CPTP coordinator. The coordinator obtains any other approvals required by the agency and sends the completed form to the Comprehensive Public Training Program at the following address:
Comprehensive Public Training Program
Dept. of Civil Service
P. O. Box 94111
1201 N. Third Street, Suite 3-290 (Messenger Mail address)
Baton Rouge, LA 70804-9111
Or Fax it to the CPTP Office at (225) 342-2386.
Participants registering for an "open" class will usually receive notification in the mail at their home address about three weeks before the class. Participants who do not receive notification should not go to class. Coordinators are encouraged to call CPTP whenever there are questions about registration.
Participants who cannot attend a class for which they are registered should call the Comprehensive Public Training Program at (225) 342-8539 to cancel their registration. Participants should inform their agency CPTP coordinators that they are canceling their registration. Late cancellations cause CPTP numerous problems, including wasting valuable resources. Participants should cancel by 8:00 AM on the last working day before the start of the class. Those who do not cancel and do not attend the class will be reported to their agency as a "no-show." This means we were unable to offer that class space to another state employee.
A participant who misses part of a class must make up the missed segment to receive credit for the class. After checking with their supervisors, participants may schedule makeups directly with the Comprehensive Public Training Program by calling (225) 342-8539. Participants should inform their agency coordinators of the date they are attending a make-up segment.
Every participant who registers for a management development course is automatically registered for any testing. Participants who need to have a special test may call the Public Management Program at LSU by calling (225) 578-2280 to schedule a makeup or retake.
All requests for special classes should be in writing and signed by the agency head or his or her designee, and then sent to Karen Puckett at the CPTP Office at the address listed above.
