A day after passing the $27 billion FY 10 state operating budget, the Louisiana House of Representatives today will consider HB 2, the FY 10 capital construction budget.

The bill includes spending proposals for using FY 08 surplus funds, summarized this way in an Associated Press story:

The surplus plans include $300 million for coastal restoration and hurricane protection projects, $246 million for road and bridge work, $98 million for college construction, $24 million for port projects and $7.5 million for state emergency sheltering.

Also, $85 million would pay for improvements to the Louisiana Superdome as part of a Jindal administration deal that will keep the Saints in New Orleans through 2025.
