Operational Planning and Budgeting

 

Operational planning and budgeting involves the task-by-task scheduling of operations and allocation of resources within a budget to achieve goals and objectives and implement employment of resources.

An operational plan is an annual work plan.  It indicates what portion of a strategic plan will be addressed during an operational period.

An operating budget is an annual allocation of resources to carry out the operational plan.  An operating budget is driven by an operational plan.  It indicates what resources are necessary to implement the operational plan.
