The mission of the Museums/Other Operations Program is to highlight and promote the impact that various industries, individuals, government and politics have had on the heritage, history and people of Louisiana. In fulfilling its mission, this program supervises operations of Louisiana's Old State Capitol in Baton Rouge, the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum in Shreveport, the Louisiana Cotton Museum in Lake Providence, the Pentagon Visitors Center Gift shop, the State Capitol Tower Gift Shop, the Old Arsenal Museum, and the Edward Douglass White Historic Site in Thibodaux. The goal of this program is to provide an effective interpretation and presentation using documents, artifacts, building, machinery and objects of art to convey the multifaceted elements of our state's history, industry, culture and archaeology using museums and historic sites; to promote the education of the public on the influence that politics, petroleum, cotton, sugar, military, and other industries have had on Louisiana's development and cultural heritage; to maintain historic buildings in an archival manner. This program has one activity, Museums/Other Operations.

RESOURCE ALLOCATION FOR THE PROGRAM
This program is funded with state general fund and fees and self-generated revenues. The fees and self-generated revenues are derived from admissions charges to the Old State Capitol, other museums, the Louisiana Center for Government and Politics, and for providing copies and certified copies of any requested documents.
The total means of financing for this program is recommended at 90.7% of the existing operating budget. It represents 64.1% of the total request ($1,894,403) for this program. The net decrease is primarily due to the technical adjustment transferring funding and eleven positions to other programs and the removal of funding for nonrecurring acquisitions.
