The mission of the Department of Health and Hospitals is to strive to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and habilitative services for all citizens of the state of Louisiana.
The goals of the Office of the Secretary are:
1. Ensure access to medical services, preventive services, and habilitative services for as many people as possible that are in need of these services with available funds.
2. Protect the health needs of the citizens of Louisiana and to promote effective health practices.
3. Ensure that quality health care services are provided to the citizens of Louisiana.
