The mission of the Office of Air Quality and Radiation Protection is to enhance the air quality and to maintain a comprehensive radiation regulatory program in Louisiana. The Office consists of two programs: Air Quality, and Radiation Protection. The goals of this office are:
1. Reduce air pollutants to levels which comply with national air quality standards.
2. Ensure that operations involving the use of radioactive material and radiation-producing machines are conducted in the safest possible manner.
This agency's recommended appropriation does not include any funds for short-term debt.
This agency does not have any long-term debt for Fiscal Year 1998-1999.
This agency's recommended appropriation also includes the following amount by means of financing for payments on the unfunded accrued liability of the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System in accordance with the provisions of Article X, Section 29 of the Constitution of Louisiana:
