The Non-Public Educational Assistance Program provides constitutionally mandated and other aid to non-public schools as required by statute.
The purpose of this program is to provide financial assistance to nondiscriminatory, state approved non-public schools. There are 125,000 non-public school students eligible for services. This budget unit encompasses: Required Services, School Lunch Salary Supplement, Transportation, Textbook and Textbook Administration Services.
RESOURCE ALLOCATION FOR CHILDREN
A supplementary recommendation of $23.1 million, of which $23.1 million is general fund, is included in the Total Recommended amount for this program. It represents funding for Required Services, School Lunch Salary Supplements, Transportation, and Textbook Administration and is dependent on renewal of the current sales tax rate of 3% on the sales tax suspension of exemptions base.
