ACCESSING / EXITING SYSTEM

To access the STAMPS system, a user must first connect with the DOA mainframe computer and then complete the security log-on procedure. Make sure you know what type of terminal you are using and then follow the instructions below.

ACCESSING THE MAINFRAME

The exact method of accessing the DOA mainframe depends upon your type of terminal and the emulation software the terminal is using. The method below is valid for most systems, including PC terminals using Communications Manager and Attachmate, as well as dumb terminals connected directly to the mainframe. If the following instructions do not connect you, call the OIS Help Line at 342-4730.

▬ Log on to network using your assigned network ID and password.

▬ Select Communications Manager from the Main Menu by clicking the label twice with the mouse. You may enlarge the emulator window to full screen size by clicking the up arrow in the upper right corner with your mouse.

▬ When the emulator screen (DOA Screen) appears, type “C” and press the enter Key.

SECURITY LOG-ON

After a user connects to the mainframe, a security log-on is required to access the SLABS (Main Menu Screen) system. The log-on elements include the Task ID, a user ID and password.

▬ The task code for this system is its name, “SLABS”. Type the task ID at the prompt given, then press the tab key to proceed to the User ID prompt.

▬ Type your User ID and press the tab key to proceed to the password prompt. To proceed to the SLABS Main Menu Screen, type your password and press the enter key.

EXITING INDIVIDUAL SCREENS AND/OR THE SYSTEM

To exit individual screens, press the F3 key until you arrive at the screen you desire.

To exit the system press the F3 key until you arrive at a blank screen. Then type the word “Bye” and press the Enter Key.

You can return directly to the SLABS Main Menu from the blank screen. In lieu of typing the work “Bye” simply type “SLABS” and press the enter key.

Always log off the system when not in use.
