Teachers' Retirement System (RT02, RT03, RT17, RT18 and RT19) has notified OSUP that, according to La. R.S. 11:70(9), premium pay, overtime, and cash housing allowances should be considered as retirement wages; therefore, contributions should be made based on these amounts. UPS automatically considers overtime as retirement wages and calculates retirement contributions for this amount. Due to the fact that all payments identified in UPS as premium or miscellaneous income are not subject to retirement contributions for Teachers', UPS will not automatically consider payments for premium pay and cash housing allowances as retirement wages. Agencies must process an adjustment (ADJXX) when these payments are made to employees.
