Directory Assistance

Local and National Directory Assistance is provided to subscribers by the telephone companies to aid in the retrieval of destination numbers.

State Government Directory Assistance Service assists the general public as well as state agencies by providing the following information:

• State of Louisiana government telephone numbers
• Dialing instructions
• Names of department heads and other state officials
• Assistance in identifying the appropriate state agency

Telephone numbers not listed in the Louisiana State Government Telephone Directory or the public telephone directory can be made available to the public through the State Government Directory Assistance Operators. OTM can only include these numbers if the appropriate information is provided by the agency Telecommunications Coordinator.

Referrals for Disconnected Telephone Numbers

• Disconnected Centrex Telephone Numbers in Baton Rouge--When dialing disconnected Centrex telephone numbers in Baton Rouge, the caller will receive a disconnect recording. However, OTM can provide specific referrals when warranted on most Centrex central office locations.
• Other Disconnected Telephone Numbers--When dialing disconnected telephone numbers and those Centrex telephone numbers not in Baton Rouge, the caller will get a disconnect recording. There is no procedure established for number-to-number referral.

Actual cost plus a 3% processing charge. A Support Service fee of 0.5% shall be applied to the monthly cost of this service. 

State Government Directory Assistance Service
There is no charge for this service.

How to Order
Local and National Directory Assistance
Agencies contact the telephone company directly for local and national directory assistance service by dialing 4-1-1. If an access code (for example "9") is required to dial local numbers, that access code is required to dial local and national directory assistance as well.

The telephone companies' directory assistance operators use the public directory listings to provide telephone numbers to callers. Click here for procedures to add, change or remove a public directory listing.

To determine if number-to-number referral is available on a number you are moving or disconnecting, contact OTM Customer Service. To request number-to-number referral for a disconnect or move order, use the remarks section of form OTM/S-2.
