Interim Emergency Board
The Interim Emergency Board is a constitutionally created entity which operates between legislative sessions to respond to emergency and certain deficit funding requests. An appropriation may be made or debt incurred only for a purpose for which the legislature may appropriate funds and then only after the board gets the written consent of two-thirds of the elected members of each house of the legislature. The board also recommends priority and project description changes in the state’s capital outlay bill and approves financial institutions as state depositories-fiscal agents.
